Nordicomics Youth! Comics Camp
Venue: Luukki Camp Center, Espoo, Finland
The Finnish Comics Society organised a Nordicomics Youth! comics camp for young artists in August 2014. The camp was aimed at 18–25-year-old comic artists and creators currently living in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Estonia.
During the camp the participants got to work on their own, preplanned comics projects and take part in supporting workshops. The camp was also a great way to meet other young artists from the neighbouring Nordic countries and build life-long kinships across the borders.
Before the camp, all participants received tutoring for their individual projects via email from the Finnish teachers that lead the camp workshops. This ensured that everyone could begin working on their projects right from the get-go.
The 5-day camp offered different workshops from which the participants selected the ones that best supported their own work. The workshops were led by Finnish comics professionals, who planned the workshops to best suit the participants projects. The workshops included both technical and storytelling support.
