Mari Ahokoivu

Mari Ahokoivu (FIN b. 1984) has studied comics at Liminka art school and at EESI, Angoulême and is currently attending Kvarnby Comics School in Malmö. Her publications include Sarjakuvantekijän opas (BTJ kustannus 2007) and Löydä minut tästä kaupungista (Asema 2009) and several zines.
Her comics have been published in many anthologies and magazines including C’est Bon anthology, Kuti, kuš! and Kolor Klimax.

In 2012 she was featured in the exhibition EYEBALLING! at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, which presented  the most interesting contemporary Finnish comics artists. She was also the festival artist of the Helsinki International Film Festival Love & Anarchy in the same year. Ahokoivu has also taught comics and worked in various projects with the Finnish Comics Society and Nordicomics.

Ahokoivu has participated on the Nordicomics Helsinki 2009 Workshop and anthology, the Nordicomics tour 2010 workshops in StockholmCopenhagen and St. Petersburgthe Nordicomics Copenhagen 2010 Anthology and theNordicomics St. Petersburg 2010 blog.
