Kaisa Leka
Kaisa Leka (FIN b. 1978) is a cartoonist from Porvoo, Finland. She has studied comics and graphic design in the Lahti University of Applied Sciences, and her comics have been published in several Finnish magazines as well as on her popular sketchbook blog www.kaisaleka.blogspot.com.
Her autobiographical graphic novels have received a lot of critical acclaim both in Finland and abroad. The main themes in her autobiographical books are living with a disability, spiritual searching and relationship. Her work has been featured in many exhibitions and publications across Europe and been published in six different languages. Kaisa has also been invited to speak about her work at festivals in Finland, Sweden, Russia and France.
Besides comics Kaisa is interested in politics, knitting, vegetarian cuisine, meditation, cycling, reading and taking naps. She’s currently working on a graphic novel about a 3000-kilometre bicycle journey from Finland to France, that is to be published in 2010.
Kaisa Leka participated in the Nordicomics Helsinki 2009 exhibition and the Nordicomics tour 2010 exhibitions.
